Nuclear Astrophysics Meetings at the 2013 Community Meeting:
There were three astrophyics-related meetings at MSU on August 22 - 23, 2013.
For more information on these,
please visit our Meetings page.
SECAR Collaboration Meeting, Thursday, August 22, 08:30 - 12:00 noon
A meeting of collaborators to discuss the recent status and future plans for this mass separator system for ReA3 / FRIB.
Nuclear Astrophysics Workshop, Thursday, August 22, 13:30 - 19:00
This workshop will have invited and contributed presentations, and is designed to:
[a] discuss new open questions and scientific developments that affect the evolution of our field
[b] discuss actions to get the field where it needs to be
[c] continue to grow a nuclear astrophysics community spanning experimental, theoretical, and observational work
[d] raise awareness of nuclear astrophysics as an important field at the forefront of science
Nuclear Astrophysics Equipment Breakout Session, Friday, August 23, 15:30 - 17:30
We will have updates on the SECAR, JENSA, and FRIB / ReA3 projects,
as well as information on a variety of other projects in nuclear astrophysics.
For more information on these three important meetings, please visit our Meetings page.
Nuclear Astrophysics Breakout Session at ANL on August 16-17, 2012:
In connection with the the Low Energy Community Meeting that was held on August 17-18, 2012 at Argonne National Lab, there was a Nuclear Astrophysics Breakout Session on the afternoon and evening of Thursday, Aug. 16. This meeting covered a wide range of topics for nuclear astrophysics in the FRIB era, and included theory and observation discussions. There was also a more focussed meeting on equipment for FRIB on Friday, August 17, 2012. Results of these discussions were presented in a Plenary session at the Low Energy Community Meeting on Saturday morning, Aug. 18, 2012.
FRIB Users Organization - Input to FRIB CDR:
In Spring 2010, the FRIB Users Organization drafted the science case for the Conceptual Design Report (CDR) for an FRIB Review in Summer 2010. Our Collaboration was involved in writing the astrophysics portion of the CDR.
FRIB Equipment Meeting [and FRIB Astrophysics Collaboration meeting] in February, 2010:
There was a FRIB meeting on experimental equipment needs on February 20-22, 2010 on the campus of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. The goals of this meeting included ensuring that alternatives for experimental equipment have been considered, that adequate space is provided in the experimental halls, and that all users communicate their specific equipment needs to FRIB and to each other. For more information, please see our page on this important meeting.
SECAR Meeting in January 2010:
The SECAR collaborators met on the campus of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan on Saturday, January 30, 2010. At this meeting, we discussed: system requirements, benchmark reactions, current design status, canonical and alternative designs, project management plans, and preparations for the FRIB Equipment Workshop in February 2010. For more information, please see our SECAR page.
New website for the FRIB Users Organization:
The FRIB Users Organization has a new website, which has descriptions of almost 20 other FRIB equipment collaborations, information on FRIB, and a mechanism to sign up. Please visit this new FRIB site and sign up to show your support of FRIB. Also, please join for this collaboration if you have an interest in nuclear astrophysics research at FRIB.
FRIB Users Organization Meeting on October 15, 2009:
A meeting of the FRIB Users Organization was held on Thursday, Oct. 15, as part of the APS Division of Nuclear Physics Meeting. More information on the FRIB Users Organization meeting can be found on this page.
Collaboration Meeting on August 10, 2009:
There was a Collaboration Meeting on Monday, August 10, 2009, from 1pm to 5pm at NSCL on the campus of Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. We will soon post a Summary of the meeting on this page.
Presentations and Summary now online from the May 2009 Meeting:
We have now posted the presentations and a Summary from the May 2009 meeting online. Please check this page for the documents.
